Afrikan Boy + Bass Clef + Banjo or Freakout
Tuesday, November 20
Odd one this but trust us: it'll work. Headlining we've got Afrikan
Boy, most recently found guesting on Hustle with M.I.A and also the man
behind 'Lidl' - "One Day I went to Lidl, I went to shoplift in Lidl,
then I got caught in Lidl, now I can't go back to Lidl" - which you've
all been dancing to like loons for the past few months.
Before that we've got the brilliant Bass Clef, whose album 'A Smile is
a Curve That Never Straightens' is one of the records of the year. Sounding
like a cross between classic Warp, the Bristol Sound and Dubstep. He's
getting plaudits in Plan B and Wire right now, definitely worth checking
out.
First up is Banjo or Freakout a one man bedroom manifestation. You can
buy his album from his myspace and it'd be a worthy addition to your collection.
He recently got his first press hype from Drowned in Sound who describe
him as "looping sounds that glitter and whisper and crackle and lope
and threading them all together with the dab hand of a red-eyed, spinning
plate ring master". Nice.
