Guards + Giant Steps
Tuesday, February 15
Coming over on the back of a few limited edition sevens Guards are playing an NME show and for us!
Stealing some copy from RCRD LBL (and you can go over there and download some songs if you fancy too):
"Richie Follin's Guards really got a hold on me. "Resolution Of One" is a murkier Buddy Holly with the same undeniable catchiness sung with the kind of voice that stays pleasantly put in your head. A listen to "Crystal Truth" further proves that he has a mid-twentieth century renaissance on lock, with a clear study of Phil Spector's song writing oeuvre, but darkened with a healthy dose of fuzz. This is a call to arms for a resurgence of girl groups and guys in thick-rimmed glasses to start playing guitar pop with honeyed vox." - RCRD LBL

‘Giant Steps are a 3-piece soul-rock/indie band from Reading. Since forming at the start of 2010, they have recorded tracks with Mike Crossey (who also produced Foals and Arctic Monkeys) and are working their way up to the release of their first single in April.’
