White Heat & Brainlove Records Present:
FEAR OF A WACK PLANET
A three-way Release Party Spectacular!
Kid Carpet +
Stairs to Korea +
Curly Hair
Brainlove is happy to be back in cahoots with the legendary White Heat club for a one-off gig spectacular this September 29th '09. Featuring live performances from twee-pop champion Kid Carpet, emerging pop maestro Stairs To Korea and celebrated anti-folk duo Curly Hair, this is a seriously unmissable lineup. All three artists make appearances on Brainlove's 27-track survey of the underground FEAR OF A WACK PLANET, available for £5 on the night, or free to the first ten entrants.
Kid Carpet
Ed Patrick aka Kid Carpet is a stalwart of the UK's live scene and festival circuit. His music has been described as 'kiddy disco punk' and 'shit-hop', as it is recorded in his home studio using instruments such as dodgy Casio keyboards, old samplers and various children's toys including plastic Fisher-Price guitars and tamagochi innards. He has toured with everyone from Arcade Fire to Go! Team to Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip. His skronky, wrongcore vision has seen albums released by Tired & Lonesome and Rob Da Bank's Sunday Best label, and his new stuff is every bit as awesome as ever - don't miss it! http://www.myspace.com/kidcarpet
Stairs To Korea
Will Vaughan is Stairs To Korea, an alt-pop maestro with a knack for unforgettable tunes about growing up, going out and getting lost in the 21st century. With an intriguing array of guitar synths and vocal treatments, he melds earworm melodies and spotless arrangements into the most creative and perfect variant on classic songwriting that you'll hear this year. His debut single is out Sept 28th on Brainlove Records. http://www.myspace.com/stairstokorea
Curly Hair
Ben & Jessica, with assorted friends, are Curly Hair, the newest, freshest, happiest (and probably twee-est) band on the anti-folk scene. Their songs are bright eyed and bushy-tailed odes to young love, nights in, hi-jinks and low fives. Their songs are infectious enough to have caught the attention of such lumiaries as John Kennedy, Bethan Elfyn and Mark Riley, for whom they have a radio session airing this month. Curly Hair will charm your pants off. In a good clean fun kind of way, don't get your hopes up pal. Their debut EP, "The Ivy League", is out September 28th in limited, hand-printed packaging. http://www.myspace.com/wearecurlyhair
