Stricken City + Cloud Control + The Bridport Dagger
Tuesday, May 12
Stricken City are responsible for some rather amazing songs and are about to go off on tour with Maximo Park and the Noisettes. To continue my obsession with the Guardian's band of the day segment:
The buzz: "Fronted by the impossibly beautiful Rebekah Raa, this London foursome make for a striking live proposition as they slink around the stage dishing out reverb-heavy, scratchy, riff-fuelled indie-pop."
The truth: Yes she is, and yes they do.

Before that we've an Antipodean offering (OZ, not NZ) in the form of Cloud Control who are described thusly: "embrace the alt-folk tradition with Neil Young-inspired vocals, inventive pop melodies and old-time girl/boy harmonies from an era when pop music was pure and - well - just made you smile. Off the back of their critically acclaimed debut EP (4.5 stars, Sydney Morning Herald), they attracted radio airplay nationally and were lauded in the press with striking comparisons to The Go-Betweens and Belle And Sebastian" Opening we've got new regulars the Bridport Dagger "Mixing Roy Orbison/Bunnymen vocals with stabbing guitar and tom tom heavy drums. Just back from a recent BBC6 session and recently featured in I.D"
